Set at the turn of the 20th century, the film follows Lili d'Alengy, a famous Parisian courtesan who flees to Rome to hide her daughter with a learning disability to protect her social standing. In Rome, she meets Maria Montessori, a brilliant young doctor pioneering a revolutionary, inclusive educational method for children society has written off. While Maria helps Lili’s daughter find her voice, both women must find their own strength to navigate a male-dominated world and protect their own deeply held secrets. It is an inspiring tribute to one of Italy's most historic and influential figures related to the Italian education.
