Today, Società Dante Alighieri – Cairns is a warm, welcoming non-profit community that promotes the Italian language and culture in Far North Queensland. Everyone is welcome — whether you have Italian heritage, a love for Italy, or you’re simply curious. We bring people together to learn Italian, celebrate Italy’s rich culture, and enjoy friendship through language, food, and community.
Dante Cairns was established in 1985 by a group of local Italo-Australians who wanted to bring people together to share and appreciate the rich tapestry of Italian culture and language. This is still our intention today, to encourage Italians and non-Italians to be part of global and local gatherings and enjoy being immersed in Italian culture. Dante Cairns is lucky to still have our foundational members today.
