Membership of the Dante Alighieri Society of Cairns [Dante Cairns] is open to all individuals.
- The annual membership year commences on the first of January every year.
- All members are invited to the Annual general meeting at the beginning of the year and are eligible to be nominated for a position on the Management committee.

Dante Cairns thanks its members and friends for their annual subscriptions and their support of Dante Cairns functions throughout the year, allowing the Society to support local students and other prizes.
Studitalia Prize
Dante Cairns made a donation to the Studitalia Prize of $500 in 2019 and $300 in 2020. This prestigious award is an initiative to promote excellence in Italian language studies in Year 12 throughout all Queensland schools. The prize is supported by the Queensland Department of Education, The Consulate of Italy in Brisbane as well as various organisations and private donors.
MLTAQ Speaking Competition
Modern Languages Teachers Association Queensland Speaking Competition (Italian) is held annually for local school students to present an Italian speech in front a panel of judges. Dante Cairns donates approx $250 each year and also sponsors The Dante Alighieri Society Perpetual trophy for Year 6 and 10. The competition was suspended in 2020 due to Covid-19.
End of Year Prizes
Dante Cairns also offers schools a "End of Year" prize to the most promising and dedicated student of Italian in local primary and secondary schools from Tully to Mossman and the Tablelands. The prize is offered to Year 6, 8 & 10 students. Dante Cairns encourages students to pursue their Italian studies.
